FCDA rally merit award is presented annually to a person who has done something positive for rallying. The person can be from any area of rallying: a driver, co-driver, mechanic, marshal, reporter etc.
It is not a competition, but an honorary award or a thank you from FCDA to the person receiving the award. The award is presented in the Finnish Autosport Federations end of year gala for all medallists. The cup itself is the trophy Timo Rautiainen got for winning rally Argentina in 2003.
FCDA's annual Rally merit award 2009 was handed to rally veteran Lasse Lampi. Lampi was Finnish Rally Champion in 1983 and 1991 and also achieved many excellent results in international rallies during his career. After active competition years he was a long time test driver for Mitsubishi and an important part of Tommi Mäkinen's four World titles. Currently Lampi is amongst other things working actively with Juho Hänninen, thus continuing the important work of helping future rally stars in their career. Lasse Lampi has always kept a low profile of his work, so FCDA wants to respect his important work by presenting him with this award.
